Jack’s Tapas Café, Mainly Chinese gets its name for several reasons. The head chef is Jack. Jack has been cooking for over 15 years, mostly Chinese. He had worked and owned his restaurants in L.A., San Francisco, San Jose and Dallas, Texas before he moved to Seattle and joined the family here. He had one-year stunt at a restaurant in Port Orchard last year. A local Port Orchard Sun newspaper interviewed him and gave him rave reviews.

Jack has great passion in cooking. He says literally he is so happy when standing in front of the wok. He has numerous recipes in his belt, mostly “small eats”, “tapas” in Spanish. When we first saw this location on University Way, we felt that with its size and configurations we should focus on serving tapas. In Chinese, tapas is not necessarily food served on small dishes like dim sum. The noodle dishes, sesame bread, biscuits, pickled vegetables that we serve are considered “small eats”. We don’t want to be just another Chinese restaurant - we strive to serve not only good food but unique dishes that are not easily found in other restaurants. In addition we want to introduce many of our family traditional, home-style recipes with you.

We call it Café because this is a small place and we plan to serve coffee, latte, espresso, milk shakes, fresh squeezed juices, etc. down the road. We hope to bring happiness to your tummies and be part of this community.
